Entries now open for Lee County 4-H Fair

AMBOY - The Lee Co. Fair Association is accepting entries for the 2012 Lee County 4-H Fair & Jr. Show, July 26-29, at the Lee County 4-H Center & Fairgrounds.

New this year, Overlanders 4x4 brings Side-by-Side Dirt Drags & Mud Bogs to the grandstand Saturday, July 28, at 6 p.m. Returning is the Lee Co. Open Speed Show on Sunday, July 29, at 1 p.m., and includes barrel racing, plug and pole bending. Open to ages eight years and up.

The fair also features daily kids’ activities including the Kiddie Carnival on Thursday, July 26, at 3:30 p.m., and Kids’ Korner activities Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, at 1 p.m. The carnival from Oak Ridge Ranch Amusements is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday features the Pedal Pull, Corn Husking Contest, Touch-A-Truck, Big Wheel Races and a Discover 4-H event.

Anyone is welcome to participate in the Farm Scene Contest. The contest encourages participants (all ages welcome) to create a farm scene display using pre-made or custom built buildings, equipment, and tractors. Also returning is the Lee County Fair Car & Truck Show scheduled for Sunday, July 29, with registration at 11 a.m. More information about both events can be found online.

The Jr. Show is open to any youth ages eight to 19. Jr. Show departments include beef, cat, dairy, dog, goat, horse, poultry, rabbits, sheep, swine, crops, mechanical and computer science, and visual arts. The Jr. Show is a perfect place to display your talents and earn money for doing something you enjoy.
