SUBLETTE – The Sublette Village Board held a short meeting on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Ellice Dinges Center with Trustee Tim Bonnell absent.
Treasurer Theresa Wilson advised that two CDs would be coming due. The board approved renewing them for 10 months each at .35 percent.
The Test Inc., report indicated that water samples have been done and that four water meters still need to be replaced.
Don Dinges, Economic Development Coordinator, reported that an article about the toy show would be in the Chicago Tribune Travel Section on Sunday, March 3. He also sent information to WTVP in Peoria, hoping to get some coverage on their Illinois Adventure series.
Dinges has been working with the Midwest Oliver Club. They are going to celebrate their 20th anniversary in Sublette during the toy show, since the club’s first informal organizational meeting was held in Sublette. He is also working with the Minneapolis Moline Club to develop plans for their 2016 National Convention to be held in conjunction with the toy show.
Also, he has received information from Illinois State University that they are bringing their solar race car to be displayed during the toy show. He has also contacted the Illinois FFA to invite them to bring their E85 car to the show. He has also contacted McDonald’s to try to schedule the McDonald’s Children’s Health Clinic motorhome to be at the toy show.
Toy show flyers have been sent to International Harvester collectors, Minneapolis Moline collectors, and to toy shows in St. Louis and Marengo.
Earlville will be celebrating their 150th anniversary and has invited Sublette to participate with the village float in their parade on June 30, 2013.
Elder Abuse Facts, including fraud and scams, given by Northern Illinois Area on Aging, the first of a series of informational meetings, will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m., at the Ellice Dinges Center. Also, information regarding Electric Aggregation by Rock River Energy will be given the same night. These programs are co-sponsored by the Village of Sublette and Farmers State Bank of Sublette.
Trustee Leffelman advised that the new cable TV/Internet franchise agreement is still be worked on.
Village president John Stenzel reported that there would be an electrical aggregation informational meeting on March 13, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Ellice Dinges Center. A village clean-up date is being finalized. It will be either April 13 or 20.
Ideas are still being discussed regarding the property at 109 W. Main St. The village wants to make the best decision for the whole community. He will bring ideas for the April meeting which could include any possible grants.
