Sublette finishes up fiscal year

Posted: Tuesday, Apr 30th, 2013

John Stenzel, left, is sworn in as village president by Sublette village clerk Linda Klaser. Stenzel did the honors of swearing in Klaser, who won as a write-in candidate.

SUBLETTE A Fiscal Year End Meeting of the Sublette Village Board was held Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Ellice Dinges Center with all members present.

The first matter of business was the passing of Ordinance No. 4-2913, Aggregation of Electrical Load. As the residents of Sublette voted to accept the electrical aggregation in the April 9, 2013 election, the village board passed a motion to create the ordinance.

With the passing of the ordinance, the board discussed the pros and cons of the various electric suppliers presented by Rock River Energy Services and chose a one-year program with First Energy. Anyone not already contracted with another supplier, other than ComEd, will receive two letters with an option to opt out of the program with First Energy.

The second matter of business was the purchase of a street sweeper. The board agreed to purchase a used street sweeper from the City of Amboy in the amount of $1,500.

After an adjustment to financial line items, an executive session was held. The board then approved the executive session minutes.

At the end of the meeting, Linda Klaser, a write-in candidate in the April 9 election, was sworn in as the new village clerk. She, in turn, swore in John Stenzel as village president and the three trustees also recently elected.
