James Menzel, 70, of LaMoille died March 10, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on March 13 at First Baptist Church, LaMoille with Rev. Jerry Graham officiating. Burial was at Melugen Cemetery, Brooklyn Township with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. on March 12 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Mr. Menzel was born July 8, 1939 in Woodstock to Gordon and Clarabelle (Johnson) Menzel. He married Karen Walker on Dec. 28, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota.
Survivors include his wife; six children, Susan Menzel of Germany, Tammy (Charlie) Williams of Spring Valley, Jerry (Sunee) Menzel of Mendota, Rick (Kris) Menzel of Princeton, Lisa (Troy) Quest of LaMoille and Ron (Jill) Menzel of Perkasie, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Russ (Penny) Menzel of Crossville, Tenn. and John Menzel of Compton; two sisters, Judy (Dick) Kelly of Mendota and Gwen (Bill) Cox of Stillman Valley; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Menzel served with the U.S. Army for three years. He was a union steward with Local 722 and was employed as a truck driver by Consolidated Freight Ways. He was a Boy Scout leader and Little League umpire and was a member of First Baptist Church, LaMoille.
