Lori A. Dewey, 52, of Dixon, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford after a short battle with cancer.
Memorial service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at 10 a.m., in the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon with the Rev. Frank Brozenec officiating. Visitation was on Wednesday from 9 a.m., until time of service in the funeral home.
Mrs. Dewey was born July 28, 1959, in Chicago, the daughter of Ronald and Marlys (Nelson) Wakild. She married Greg Dewey on Dec. 6, 1980, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy.
Survivors include her husband of Dixon; children Ramon Wakild, Tonya Dewey, Dana Dewey, and Gregory Dewey, all of Dixon; three step-grandchildren, Mason, Timothy James, and Rador Montgomery; her parents of Dixon, three sisters, Rhonda Wakild and Nancy (Jim) Johnson, both of Bruce, Wis., and Christine (Dan) O'Brien of Dixon; and a brother Richard Wakild of Dixon.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, Timothy O'Brien.
She had been employed at the Happy Steer in Amboy, had been the manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Dixon, and had also worked at Donut World and Culver's, both in Dixon.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donors choosing.
