WEST BROOKLYN - Madge Wytonna "Tonna" McCarter Gehant, 75, of West Brooklyn died June 21, 2012 in Peru.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on June 26 at St. Mary's Church, West Brooklyn with Rev. Max Lasrado officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, West Brooklyn. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on June 25 at the Schwarz Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church on June 26.
Pallbearers were Doug Hartley, Mick and Tom Lamkin, Ryan Widolff, Kevin Lewis, Kevin Lewis Jr. and Jason Combs.
Mrs. Gehant was born Jan. 26, 1937 in Blue Eye, Mo. to Roy and Beatrice (McCarter) Reagan. She married Donald Gehant on July 18, 1958 in Oregon. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2006.
Survivors include three sons, Craig Gehant of Blue Eye, Ark., Dave (Mary) Gehant of West Brooklyn, and Joe (Janet) Gehant of Cape Fair, Mo.; five daughters, Vicki Gehant of Blue Eye, Ark., Becky (Mick) Lamkin of Troy Grove, Brenda Gehant of Ottawa, Kelly (Kevin) Lewis of Mendota, and Theresa Gehant of Compton; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; three brothers, Terry (Nita) Reagan of Berryville, Ark., Larry (Janet) Reagan of Oak Grove, Ark. and Rick Reagan of Lampe, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ronnie Carol Meese; and one sister in infancy, Georgia.
Mrs. Gehant worked for over 30 years as the manager of Compton Ag Service before retiring in 2007. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the West Brooklyn-Compton Volunteer Fire Department.
