MENDOTA - Delbert Kromm, 93, of Mendota died July 16, 2012 at Heritage Health, Mendota.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton with Rev. Steve Dow officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Brooklyn Township with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on July 19 at the church. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Merritt Funeral Home.
Mr. Kromm was born Dec. 5, 1918 in Compton to George and Iva (Dean) Kromm. He married Helen Schlesinger on Dec. 12, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2011.
Survivors include one son, Kim (Cathy) Kromm of Amboy; one daughter, Kay Kromm of Rockford; two grandchildren, Abbi Kromm and Alyx (Cody) Martinez; and one great grandson, Luca Xavier Martinez.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers, Edward, Dale and Roy.
Mr. Kromm was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations. He was a graduate of Mendota High School and farmed in the Sublette and Compton areas during his lifetime. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton.
