AMBOY - Delmar Leroy Daniels, 79, of Amboy, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in his home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 10 a.m., in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy with Military Honors by the Amboy American Legion Post. Visitation was on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
Mr. Daniels was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Lee County, the son of Delmar J. and Helen (Stouffer) Daniels. He married Betty Latta on Aug. 9, 1952, in Amboy.
Survivors include his wife Betty; one son, Steven Daniels of Dixon; two daughters, Tami (Tony) Johnson and Lisa (Kevin) O'Connell, both of Amboy; six grandchildren, Tom (Lindsay) Daniels, Jeff (April) Daniels, Brad (Nicole Sowl) Johnson, Collin (Bethany) O'Connell, Chelcie O'Connell, and Drew Daniels; six great-grandchildren, Hayley, Tori, Dylan, Kabe, Logan, and Laci; one brother, John Daniels of Amboy; and one sister, Eileen (John) McConnell of Kirksville, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael Daniels, and a brother Harold Daniels.
He had worked at Amboy Specialty Food and then Dean Foods in Amboy and Dixon for 50 plus years prior to his retirement in 2000.
He was a Veteran of the Army during the Korean War.
A memorial has been established.
