KIRKLAND, Wash. - Thomas J. Roller, 80, passed away Dec. 30, 2011.
A memorial service was held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Wash., and also at St. Emily Catholic Church in Mount Prospect.
Mr. Roller was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Chicago, and moved to Amboy in 1992. He moved to Kirkland, Wash., in 2010.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Carol; two sons, Tom and Steve; two daughters, Katie Wynhoff and Tina Fry; four brothers; one sister; nine stepchildren; and 27 grandchildren.
He was a United States Army Medic in the Korean conflict.
He received a Master's Degree in Music from the University of Iowa, and was a choir director for various churches. He formed the Tom Roller Trio with his wife and a friend and they performed at local retirement homes and nursing homes.
He was employed by Sentry Insurance for 30 years before retiring.
