AMBOY - Richard "Dick" Morris, 78, of Amboy, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at his home.

Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at United First Church, 326 E. Main St., Amboy, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following immediately after.

Funeral arrangements by Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.

Mr. Morris was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Pyatt, Ark., the son of Richard E. and Zella (More) Morris. He married Alice Ranken in Dixon on March 27, 1955.

Survivors include his wife Alice; 12 children, Susan (Greg) Van Matre of Dixon, Joyce (Jim) Dale of Amboy, Karen (Joel) Bonnell of Dixon, Richard (Michelle) Morris of Compton, Janet (Ryan) Atkins of O'Fallon, Mo., Reita Gulley of Springfield, Va., Gregory Morris of Dixon, Ronald (Sherry) Morris of Amboy, Debra (Scott) Claeys of Stevens Point, Wis., David (Josie) Morris of Amboy, Allison (Chad) Geuther of Amboy, and Bradley (Firouzel) Morris of Aurora; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Gray of Belleville, and Ida Mae (Les) Curtis of Rock Falls; and a brother, Dean Gilbert of Phoenix.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Joe and Tommy Morris; sisters, Beverly Geiger and Donna Eaton; and one grandson, Brock Bonnell.

He was the owner and operator of Dick Morris Septic Service in Amboy for 57 years before retiring in February 2012.

He enjoyed close family gatherings and annual family fishing trips. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packers fan.
