AMBOY - Harold L. Harmon, 65, of Amboy, formerly of Oregon, Ill., died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in his home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with the Rev. Jamie T. Hawk Harmon officiating. Graveside services with military honors by the Amboy American Legion Post will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Sublette. Refreshments will follow at the home of Leroy and Alice Dukes, 303 Gilson Ave., Amboy.

Mr. Harmon was born May 15, 1948, in Oregon, the son of Harold L. and Zada B. (Ware) Harmon.

Survivors include his mother of Mt. Morris; four sisters, Alice A. (Leroy) Dukes of Amboy, Delores White of Ashton, Zada B. (Gary) Bailey of Mt. Morris, and Cathy L. (Bill) Bemus of Jackson, Miss.; two brothers, Jamie "Hawk" Harmon of Rockford and Charles R. Harmon of Elgin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; step-father Jack N. Hitchcock; one brother, George R. Harmon; and half-brother Jack Hitchcock Jr., in infancy.

He worked for Crest Foods in Ashton for 16 years prior to his retirement in 2013.

He was a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War.

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and Serenity Hospice and Home.
