A.C.O. sponsoring blood drive on Jan. 29

AMBOY - How can you accomplish your good deed for the day? By coming to the Amboy Civic Organization (A.C.O) sponsored Red Cross Blood Drive scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Amboy Community Building.

The need for blood is constant. Think about the recent major storm when Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast. Think about the devastation you read about in the newspaper every day. The need for blood is urgent especially during the winter months we are now experiencing. If your body weight and your hemoglobin meet the requirement you might be eligible to be a “double red” donor especially if your blood type is O positive or A or B negative. During this procedure the donor gives twice the amount of red blood cells. Most of the donor’s platelets and plasma are returned to them and some say they feel more hydrated after their donation.
