Amboy Junior High School’s wrestling team competed in the IESA Wrestling Regional on Feb. 27 at Morrison Grade School. Eight teams competed and Amboy finished in seventh place.

Broc Sorrells finished the highest for AJHS, taking first place in the 112-pound weight class.

Other wrestlers to place were Jason Bontz, second at 119 pounds; Andrew Ferguson, third at 105 pounds; and Emmitt Hicks, third at 155 pounds.

The top four places in each weight class move on to the sectional meet, which will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at DeKalb High School.

Also competing for AJHS but not advancing were Collin Doege (90 pounds), Damion Ullrich (95 pounds), Garrett Gerdes (119 pounds) and Aaron Hubbell (145 pounds).

The team is coached by Paul Howell and Scott Ferguson.
