Two A/L girls earn medals at Erie Invite

ERIE - The Amboy/LaMoille cross country teams took part in the Erie Panther Invite on Oct. 2.

In varsity girls' action, two Lady Clippers were medalists - Jennifer Popovich with an eighth-place finish in 22:23 and Kaitlin Boers in 14th place with a time of 23:30. Also running the three-mile course for A/L were Sydnie Langeler (21st, 24:26), Meredith Stamberger (25th, 24:56) and Laura Rieker (33rd, 26:31).

The Lady Clippers finished third in the team standings with 83 points.

In the varsity boys' race, Zach Piper turned in A/L's top performance by finishing 17th overall with a time of 18:05. Teammate Skylar Wheeler was close behind in 18th place with a time of 18:07. Other competitors for the Clippers were Ben Hosto (22nd, 18:37), Jeff DeLong (33rd, 19:53), Alan Stamberger (37th, 20:07), Nick Dewey (42nd, 20:28) and Nick Bickett (45th, 20:48).

The A/L boys took fourth in the team competition with 102 points.

Runners from Amboy Junior High School also took part in the event. Boys and girls raced one mile.

For the girls, AJHS runners included Megan Grady (6th, 6:36) and Erin Hosto (15th, 7:36).

Thomas Stamberger ran for the boys and was 17th in 7:18.
