Amboy Board hires staff for coming year

AMBOY - A number of personnel decisions were made at the Amboy District 272 Board of Education meeting on June 28.

Following closed session, the board accepted the resignation of Valarie Ackert as reading paraprofessional and she was approved as a third grade teacher effective Aug. 16. Other teaching positions approved include Stacey Dinges, 6th grade language arts teacher; Jason Hickman, junior high math teacher; Joe Schuld, junior high special education teacher; and Jamie Melin, physical education teacher at Central School, all effective Aug. 16.

Also hired were Roger Willey, assistant to the director of technology, effective July 2; Dean Weidman, head custodian at Central School, effective July 2; David Sutton, part time cook at Central School, effective Aug. 17; Annette Larson, part time cook at Amboy Junior High, effective Aug. 17; Amy Pohl, cashier, at Amboy High School, effective Aug. 17; Joe Jahn, sub caller for the 2012-13 school year; and Shirley Appleman, bus aide for the 2012-13 school year.

The board also accepted the retirement resignation notice of Carol Schnaiter, effective at the conclusion of the 2015-16 school year.

The next regular board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 at the Amboy High School cafeteria.
