AMBOY - Robert C. Flessner, 87, of Amboy, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, beginning with a 10 a.m., prayer service in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. Michael Morrissey officiating. Burial with military honors by the Amboy American Legion Post followed at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation was on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Flessner was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Amboy, the son of Carl and Luella (Dewey) Flessner. He married Elaine Schultz on May 2, 1953, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota.

Survivors include his wife; sons Joe (Marcia) Flessner of Amboy and Tim (Tami) Flessner of Sublette; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Nick) Mumm, Kayla Flessner, Kelly Flessner, and Derek Flessner; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Abel, and Blake Mumm; a brother-in-law Don Rhodes of Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard "Dick" Flessner, and sister Dorothy Rhodes.

He had worked for Commonwealth Edison for 41 years prior to his retirement.

He was a veteran of the Navy during WW II and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy.

A memorial has been established.
