MESA, Ariz. - Catherine Patricia Weir, 88, of Mesa Ariz., formerly of Amboy and San Benito Texas, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at home with family.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Bales, Pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 21, from 9 until 10:30 a.m., in the church.
Mrs. Weir was born March 16, 1924, in Sublette, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Clark) Lauer. She married George W. Weir on Dec. 2, 1950, in Amboy.
Survivors include four sons, Michael (Jean) Weir of Cocoa, Fla., William (Pamela) Weir of Amboy, John (Elizabeth) Weir of DeKalb, and Robert (Judy) Weir of Knoxville, Tenn,; two daughters, Elizabeth Weir (Rob Horner) of Mesa, Ariz., and Constance (Mike) Isogaya of Japan; eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, a great-grandson; and a step great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Mary Dickinson of Amboy and Marge Reed of Topeka, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George on June 20, 2011; her parents; and a sister, Ellen Lauer.
She worked for the First National Bank in Amboy, Lee County Extension Office, and was a Cub Scout leader and homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy and Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas.
A memorial has been established to The LoveHouse, Phoenix, Ariz., a home for abused and neglected girls.
