SUBLETTE - The Sublette Village Board meeting was held Monday, Jan. 14 at the Ellice Dinges Center with all members present.
Treasurer Theresa Wilson advised that three CDs would be coming due in February. The board approved renewing two for 10 months each at .55 percent and cashing in one for $16,200.
The Test Inc., report indicated that meters were read and bills sent out. There are still four meters to be replaced.
Don Dinges, Economic Development Coordinator reported that the Lee County Calendar of Events has been published and all of the Sublette events for 2013 are included. Blackhawk Waterways Convention and Visitors Bureau is compiling their calendar of events.
Dinges has also been in contact with the Travel Editor from the Chicago Tribune regarding mentioning Sublette Toy Show in their paper.
He has again contacted the Illinois State Police regarding the rollover simulator, and the Illinois State University regarding having their solar race car, for display at the Toy Show.
Dinges has written articles about the demolition of the Coachman Inn building and about an author originally from Sublette who started a unique business in Florida called Wackadoodle Books.
He has been getting calls about the toy show and fall car show. He is hoping to have the Hudson Collectors back, as well as the Nash Collectors.
The 2013 Toy Show sweatshirts and T-shirts have come in and the souvenir toys for the show have arrived.
He has worked with Minneapolis Moline Collectors and they are planning to have their National Convention in Sublette in 2016.
Dinges is hoping to work out an information night on Scams and Elder Abuse to be cosponsored by the bank and the village.
