Girls in Uganda have received and are wearing some of the 520 dresses made by ladies of St. Patrick Church, Maytown, and friends.

MAYTOWN – Girls in Uganda have received and are wearing some of the 520 dresses made by ladies of St. Patrick Church, Maytown, and friends. Ninety-two pair of britches for boys were also made and sent. These were made for the 2012 project.

The project, “Little Dresses for Africa,” began as a Lenten project in 2011. That year 107 dresses and 18 britches were sent with a missionary team from a church in Princeton. In the village visited, every girl received a dress. The remainder were given to girls in Kampala, Uganda’s capitol.

The group sews at home and periodically in the parish hall. This year’s Lenten project is underway. So far, they have completed 170 dresses and 24 pair of shorts to be sent with a mission team.

For information on the project or to receive a pattern for dresses, please call Marilyn Weeks at 815-638-2202, Joann Burke at 815-849-5517, or Mary Ann Cardot at 815-849-5911.
