Posted: Tuesday, Oct 1st, 2013

AMBOY The Amboy-LaMoille Clippers are riding a modest two-game winning streak after a 27-18 Homecoming game triumph over rival Morrison in Three Rivers Conference action on Sept. 27 at the AHS field.

The Clippers (2-3, 2-0) got a monster game out of running back Jason Bontz, who rushed the ball 30 times for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Bontz's TDs came on a 9-yard scamper to the end zone in the first quarter and a 5-yard trip to paydirt in the second period.

Amboy-LaMoille quarterback Liam Ohlendorf also had a hand in two touchdowns, scoring one on a 1-yard plunge near the end of the first half, and then hooking up with Damon Quest on a 31-yard touchdown strike late in the third quarter to help seal the victory for the Clippers.

In addition to Bontz's rushing heroics, the Clippers also received 79 yards on 12 carries from Chris Jones.

Ohlendorf was successful on three of his six passes for 76 yards. His favorite target was Ryan Leffelman, who caught a pair of aerials for 45 yards.

Amboy-LaMoille dominated the statistics in the running game, piling up 306 yards rushing to 167 for Morrison. The Mustangs passed for 203 yards, including TD strikes of 44 yards in the opening stanza and 38 yards in the third frame. Morrison's other touchdown was a 31-yard run by quarterback Mason Sitzmore in the second quarter.

The Clippers will try to keep their winning streak alive when they host 4-1 Erie-Prophetstown on Friday, Oct. 4 at the AHS field.
