AMBOY - Mavella Richard, 83, of Amboy, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at her home.

Visitation was 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Northside Baptist Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks, pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls, and Rev. Charles Jeanblanc, pastor of First United Church of Christ, Amboy, co-officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon.

Mavella was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Water Valley, Ky., the daughter of Lonie and Esther (Johnson) Allen. She married George E. Richard on April 13, 1946, in Kentucky.

Survivors include her significant other, Don Wittenauer, of Amboy; three sons, Eugene (Ruby) Richard of Lebanon, Tenn., Terry Richard and Rick (Deb) Richard, both of Dixon; three daughters, Neva Zentz and Pam (Dan) Whipple, both of Dixon, and Kim (Kevin) Newburgh of Rock Falls; one brother, Renual (Louise) Allen of Union City, Tenn.; one sister, Mable Ray of Murray, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Todd (Sharon) Richard of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (Jodi) Richard of Hawthorne Woods, Scott (Tammy Nantz) Zentz, Angela Madden, Jennifer (A.J. Jenson) Madden, Brandi (Jon) Willey, Tony (Samara Russell) Aldridge, Justin (Kassidy Turner) Aldridge, all of Dixon, Jacob Richard of Chicago, Elizabeth Newburgh and Lucas Newburgh, both of Rock Falls; 13 great grandchildren, Ashely Zentz, Anna Zentz, Angelica Brockman, Alexus Jenson, Gavin Jenson, Cooper Willey, Owen Willey, Addie Willey, Brooklynn Aldridge, all of Dixon, Ryan (Heather) Richard of Hudson, Iowa, Daniel (Myranda) Richard of Waterloo, Iowa, Zachary Richard and Max Richard, both of Hawthorne Woods; 4 great-great grandchildren, Owen Brockman of Dixon, Reagan Richard and Edward Richard, both of Hudson, Iowa, and Riley Richard of Waterloo, Iowa; Donís sons, Scott (Amy) Wittenauer of Amboy and Steve (Wendy) Wittenauer of Copley, Ohio; Donís grandchildren, Emily (Terry) Lester of Franklin Grove, Amanda (Matt) Walter of Amboy, Bethany (Collin) OíConnell of Chatum, Melisa (Mike Hardy) Shuttleworth of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mehgan LaGro of Pottstown, Pa.; Donís great grandchildren, Isaiah Lester of Missouri, Aaron Lester and Noah Lester, both of Franklin Grove, Everett Walter of Amboy, and Kaeden Hardy of Virginia Beach, Va..

She was preceded her in death by her husband on June 11, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Royce Allen and William Allen; one sister, Kathine Allen; a granddaughter in infancy, Alicia Aldridge; and Donís granddaughter in infancy, Lauren Wittenauer.

She was a supervisor at Borg Warner in Dixon for 25 years, prior to her retirement in 1997. Mavella enjoyed her family, gardening, and traveling the world, especially Europe.
