AMBOY Thomas J. Dunphy, 72, of Amboy died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 8, 2014 beginning with a 9:45 a.m. prayer service at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walton with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Bales officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy with military honors by the Amboy American Legion Post. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

He was born Jan. 20, 1942 in Amboy the son of Charles and Eileen (Morrissey) Dunphy. He married Sharon Corcoran on Jan. 13, 1968 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy.

He is survived by his wife; children Brien (Gina) Dunphy of Peoria, Joseph (Brandi) Dunphy of Lacon and Heather (Doug) Ruckman of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Daniah (Dan) Robb, Samantha, Mitchael and James Dunphy, Macy and Rudy Ruckman; six great-grandchildren; two brothers Larry (Caroline Chin) Dunphy of Dixon and Charles (Linda) Dunphy of Harmon; two sisters Laneita Dunphy of Wilmington, Del., and Bridget (Jim) Barry of Naperville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Frances, sister Charlene Miles and brother P.H. Dunphy.

He was a veteran of the Army serving in Vietnam during the War.

He was a journeyman lineman for IBEW Local 196 in Elgin for 45 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Walton.
