Lady Clippers open season with loss to Forreston

AMBOY — The Amboy Lady Clippers opened the softball season with a 10-0 loss to Forreston on May 4 at the AHS field.

Mallory Powers had Amboy’s only hit.

Hannah Blanton was the losing pitcher.

Amboy slipped past Lena-Winslow, 3-2, on May 8 at the AHS field.

The Lady Panthers held a 2-1 lead through five and a half innings, but Amboy pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth and then held Le-Win scoreless in the top of the seventh to earn the victory.

Maeve Larson singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Lady Clippers. Powers and Dana Merriman also singled in runs, while Gabby Jones had a double.

Blanton was the winning pitcher for Amboy. She gave up five hits, struck out 10 and walked three.

Polo claimed a narrow 3-2 decision over Amboy on May 11 at Polo. No other details were available.

The Lady Clippers had the bats going early on their way to a 10-6 triumph over Polo on May 13 at the AHS field.

Amboy scored three runs in the first and third innings and tallied twice in the second. 

Jones and Larson each had a pair of singles to pace the offense.

Blanton got the win for the Lady Clippers, allowing five hits, striking out three and walking six.
