FRANKLIN GROVE — Sharon L. Yocum, 76, of Franklin Grove, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 11, 2024 at her home.
She was born on Feb. 6,1948, in Dixon, the daughter of Lester and Evalyn (Killian) Hardy.
Sharon married the love of her life Delbert Yocum on Sept. 4, 1966, at the First Baptist Church, Amboy, happily married 57 years later. They built a life together in Franklin Grove raising four children, raising livestock, and farming.
Sharon was a gifted Beautician owning her own business; The Golden Touch Beauty Shop in Amboy from 1968-1978. After having children, she moved her Beauty Shop to her home and continued making people beautiful for many years after.
She also worked at KSB ER admission for 15 years where she made many friends. Family and friends were her whole world and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for any of them. She was an excellent cook, baker and decorated fabulous cakes throughout the years, she could make old furniture beautiful again, she could sew and paint to create beautiful masterpieces, she took great pride in her home and yard, she was the best problem-solver, listener, counselor, adviser, above all loved spending time with her friends and family. Sharon was the heart of her family. She will be forever loved and profoundly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles Hardy, Neil Hardy, Dale Hardy, Squire "John" Hardy, and sister, Rita Hardy Coleman.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Delbert; children, Angela (Jerry) Newman, of Oregon, Daniel Yocum, of Franklin Grove, Melissa (Dan Luepkes), of Oregon, and Douglas (Maren Reid) Yocum, of Amboy; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Ann Johnson, of Burlington Wis., and Nettie Poulos, of Dixon.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – noon, on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Funeral services will be at noon, on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial will follow at Franklin Grove Cemetery in Franklin Grove. A memorial has been established.
