Softball: Lady Clippers sit at 2-2

AMBOY – After winning the first two games of the season, the Amboy softball team dropped its last two to start the season at .500 with a 2-2 record.

On Tuesday, March 12, Amboy picked up its second win of the campaign with a 6-4 victory over non-conference foe, Oregon.

Sophomore Alyvia Whelchel was the winning pitcher as she struck out four allowing four walks, eight hits, and four runs in the circle.

At the plate, sophomore Kiera Karlson hit a triple and sophomore Peyton Payne notched a double.

The Lady Clippers lost its first and second games of the season against Orangeville on Saturday, March 16 on the road.

In a 10-3 defeat in the second game, Whelchel recorded the defeat in the circle although the bats were lively with sophomore Ellie Mclaughlin going 2-of-3 with a double and a single, junior Haleigh Stenzel hitting 2-of-3 for two singles, junior Tyrah Vaessen recording a triple, and both Whelchel and senior Addison Shaw tallying a hit each.
